Beachfront Retreat: Disney’s Beach Club Resort
- A 2 1/2-acre water recreation area reminiscent of a Nantucket beach, Stormalong Bay at Disney's Beach Club Resort comes complete with a life-size shipwreck with water slides, snorkeling in a sandy lagoon and a meandering swimming area that seemingly flows into the surrounding lake. Disney's Beach Club Resort, a deluxe-category hotel offering 576 luxurious rooms and suites, is located at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (Todd Anderson, photographer)
- SEASIDE ELEGANCE -- The Atlantic seaboard-inspired Disney's Beach Club Villas, located adjacent to the popular Disney's Beach Club Resort at Walt Disney World, was designed by noted architect Robert A.M. Stern, best known for his East Coast oceanside houses. The 208-room resort is inspired by the casual elegance of Cape May homes built in the early 20th century, reflecting a light, comfortable ambiance as characterized by the use of whimsical "stick-style" architecture, pastel colors, porches and other decorative elements.
- Turn-of-the-century seaside cottages at Martha's Vineyard are recalled in Disney's Beach Club Resort, a deluxe-category hotel at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Featuring crisp colors, seashell motifs, french doors and a white sand beach, this waterfront getaway offers 576 luxurious rooms and suites and a 73,000-square-foot convention center. It is located on Crescent Lake in the heart of Disney property. (Garth Vaughan, photographer)
