Who Can Participate?

Any business that is certified as minority- or woman-owned and provides products we are currently purchasing may be considered. Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs) are generally defined as firms that are at least 51% owned, controlled and operated by one or more minority (or female) individuals who are United States citizens.

Minorities, as defined by the United States Small Business Administration, are members of minority groups such as: African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, Native American, or Women.

Certification must be through one of the two national organizations: Womens Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) or National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC).

The general categories of business we seek are: Construction, Commodities, and Professional Services. Specific products or services in these categories vary at any given time based on current needs.

Getting MWBE Certified

Certification is a review process designed to ensure that a small business is actually owned, controlled, and operated by the applicants. Most certifications are granted for Minority- or Women-owned businesses. The above certification agencies implement the processes for government and private sector entities and ensure that only firms that meet the eligibility criteria of the individual programs are properly certified.

The Walt Disney Company is committed to making Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MWBEs) an important part of its sourcing and procurement activities by actively seeking minority- and woman-owned firms for inclusion in the competitive bidding process, and utilizing these businesses to the fullest extent possible. For more information on our commitment please visit  The Walt Disney Company: Supplier Diversity and Sustainment.
