Disney Executive Joins National Travel Marketing Group

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Nov. 17, 2011 – Randy Garfield, president of Walt Disney Travel Company and executive vice president of Worldwide Sales & Travel Operations of Disney Destinations, has joined the Brand USA board of directors to represent the attractions sector of the travel and tourism industry.

Seeking to draw more foreign visitors to the United States, Brand USA is drawing on top travel and tourism industry experts as it gears up to launch the nation’s first tourism marketing campaign.

“Randy brings a phenomenal record of international sales and marketing success with one of the most recognized brands in the world,” said Stephen J. Cloobeck, the group’s chairman of the board. “We welcome him onto the board.”

Formerly known as The Corporation for Travel Promotion, Brand USA was established by the Travel Promotion Act passed by Congress on Feb. 25, 2010, and signed into law by President Obama on March 4, 2010. A nonprofit entity, its mission is to promote leisure, business and educational travel to the United States, stimulating economic growth and jobs creation.

The group unveiled the Brand USA name at the World Travel Market on Nov. 7 in London.

The United States has been one of the few industrialized nations without a coordinated international tourism-marketing message. The first ads from the group are expected to debut in the spring of 2012.
