Guests Can Get “Royal” Treatment with New Specialty Room Offerings at Walt Disney World Resort

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Regal rooms fit for a prince or princess will add to the variety of vacation experiences available to Walt Disney World Resort guests: In spring 2012, royal guestrooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort will take guests on a magical vacation getaway to the guest house of Disney character royalty.

This new offering joins the highly popular pirate-themed rooms that opened in 2009 at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Some 384 of the resort’s 2,112 rooms feature swashbuckling décor, ship-shaped beds and pirate treasure furnishings.

“All Walt Disney World Resort hotel rooms and suites are completely renovated on a regular cycle,” said Mark Rucker, vice president of lodging for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “What better way to enhance the guest experience than by adding new experiences to service the changing needs – and interests – of our guests?”

 ”Royal Guest Rooms”

Continuing the popular “story” room concept launched in 2009 at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort with elaborately themed Pirate Rooms, 512 rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort (Riverside section) are being renovated with a new “Royal Guest Room” theme centered on where Disney princes, princesses and Disney royal friends have stayed..

A new royal bed design includes ornately decorated headboards with a dazzling fiber-optic fireworks display. Rich tones are used throughout each room, with bedding, artwork, border treatments and bathroom fixtures immersing guests in favorite fairytales involving Disney princes and princesses.

The unique crowns from favorite Disney princesses are woven in the bedspread design. The bathroom sinks showcase Genie’s magic lamp from Disney’s Aladdin as the faucets. Characters from beloved Disney films can be spotted in the wallpaper border.
All 3,056 rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, including the 512 new Royal Guest Rooms, are undergoing a renovation that will be complete by June 2012.
More to Come …

Another new lodging offering at Walt Disney World Resort – Disney’s Art of Animation Resort – will open in phases beginning with the Disney-Pixar Finding Nemo wing in May 2012.

Celebrating Disney animation, the three-story, family-friendly resort will immerse guests in some of their favorite Disney movies with theming throughout its nearly 2,000 new units. Finding Nemo, Cars and The Lion King wings will offer 1,202 family suites, followed by 864 standard value rooms in The Little Mermaid building (opening in late 2012). Suites sleeping up to six guests will feature a master bedroom, two full bathrooms, living room, kitchenette and three separate sleeping areas within the living space.

Situated near Disney’s Pop Century Resort, these new accommodations join the highly successful family suites available at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort. In 2006, 400 guestrooms in the Calypso and Jazz buildings were transformed into 215 family suites offering the first value category suite option for Disney guests.
