MBD – ALPFA conference at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort breaks records

ORLANDO September 22, 2010 – ALPFA, the premier business organization for expanding opportunities for Latino leadership in the global market held a successful 2010 Annual Convention at Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort from July 31-August 4. Lead sponsor of the event was the Walt Disney World Resorts. Nearly 3000 professionals and students attended the convention. ALPFA also reached a new milestone during the convention by increasing its membership to more than 15,000 members.

 

The four-day event included professional and student workshops, networking receptions, student scholarships totaling more than $120,000,  and a full day dedicated to ALPFA’s women’s initiative program. As part of ALPFA’s ongoing commitment to the community, the organization included a community service component to this year’s annual convention. Gently worn business attire was collected throughout the convention and donated to Dress For Success and Goodwill. More than seven racks of professional clothing were collected to support these two Central Florida non-profits.

 

Anthony Connelly, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, US, delivered the keynote address at the conference’s closing gala. The 2011 conference will be held at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, bringing a second year of Disney Magic to conference attendees.
