LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., July 2, 2008 – Points of Light & Hands On Network recently presented Disney Worldwide Outreach with the 2008 Award for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs. Disney was one of four organizations recognized for raising corporate volunteerism to new heights during the National Conference on Volunteering and Service in Atlanta.
Walt Disney World President Meg Crofton accepted the award, which honors a business’ overall employee volunteer effort, including actual service projects, program policies and the corporate vision that supports those activities.
Disney VoluntEARS generously share their magic to positively affect children, their communities and the environment. Last year, Disney donated more than $177 million in cash and in-kind support to various charities around the world and Disney VoluntEARS in over 42 countries contributed more than 466,000 hours of service.
Points of Light & Hands On Network is a national nonprofit whose core mission is to inspire, equip and mobilize people to take action that changes the world. The network connects 370 civic hubs managing millions of volunteers and thousands of volunteer-driven community impact projects annually across the country.
