CastFeature-Disney Cast Members Lace Up Their Bowling Shoes for Junior Achievement

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., March 8, 2008 — Nearly 5,500 Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members and Imagineers laced up their bowling shoes and hoped for strikes to help raise money and awareness for Junior Achievement (JA) during the two-day Disney—Helping Kids Shine Bowl-A-Thon, March 8 & 9.

Wearing their signature Disney VoluntEARS shirts, hundreds of teams converged on eight bowling centers around Central Florida.  Last year, 5,100 Disney VoluntEARS raised more than $264,000 during the annual bowl-a-thon, which enabled JA to reach 10,600 students.

From community donations, including Disney’s Bowl-A-Thon dollars, JA reached a total of 90,000 students across Central Florida last year. Junior Achievement provides economic education for today’s young people by bringing the real world into the classroom through partnerships with both the business and education communities. Over the past 18 years, Walt Disney World Resort has raised more than $3 million for Junior Achievement.
