Annual Chef’s Gala Benefits Heart of Florida United Way

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., April 5, 2008– Guests were able to enjoy sample cuisine from 24 top chefs recently at the 2008 Chef’s Gala benefiting the Heart of Florida United Way.  Held at EPCOT’s World Showcase Pavilion, this year marked the 16th anniversary of Disney’s sponsorship of the event, which draws over 1000 people annually.

In recognition of the more than $200,000 raised, Bob Brown, president of Heart of Florida United Way said, “None of this would be possible without Disney’s generous support.” During the event, guests enjoyed the opportunity to drink wine paired with the dishes.  The food and wine comes from 20 of Central Florida‘s finest restaurants, and during this “dine-around” experience, live jazz was played as chefs explained each wine and why it was paired with each cuisine.

Eugene Campbell, Disney World’s Community Relations vice president said, “We know that the dollars raised at this event and the generous contributions of our Cast Members during our annual United Way campaign go a long way to help our local citizens in need.” The event is United Way’s biggest fundraiser in Central Florida and money raised from the event benefits United Way agencies serving Orange, Seminole, and Osceola counties.
