Lynx announcement

Orlando Fla., April 24, 2008 – Walt Disney World Government Relations worked with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) to reach an innovative agreement which will provide Disney Cast Members as well as workers throughout Central Florida with additional transportation options in the coming years. The agreement was announced today among the Walt Disney World Resort, FDOT and LYNX.

This agreement will allow LYNX to utilize approximately $4.86 million in funds paid to FDOT by the Walt Disney World Co. to mitigate traffic due to development. Additionally, the Walt Disney World Co. will contribute $1.25 million to LYNX over the next five years ($250,000 per year) to LYNX to fund additional bus service. LYNX will use this combined $7.36 million to improve operations and maintenance efforts throughout Central Florida with new routes and increased frequency on existing ones. LYNX intends to use these funds to secure additional federal, state or other funding opportunities.
