LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL – Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez, and U.S. Representative Ric Keller joined other public officials and tourism industry leaders during a round table discussion recently to launch the “Discover America Partnership” campaign. This initiative was developed by Rasulo, who chairs the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board and the Travel Industry Association of America, to strengthen America’s image abroad and attract more international visitors to the U.S. The meeting focused on the need for a national strategy to make it easier for people to visit, and to build a nationally-coordinated destination marketing program. Secretary Gutierrez stated that the Bush administration recognizes the critical role that the tourism industry plays in the local and national economy, and is committed to supporting the private sector’s efforts to keep the industry’s vitality strong.
