GR – Calliope Article

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Jan. 2, 2007 – Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse were proud participants in the inaugural parade in Tallahassee honoring newly-sworn-in governor Charlie Crist.  Riding in grand style atop Disney’s giant 100-year-old calliope on wheels.  Mickey and Minnie were pulled by a team of eight spectacular Percheron horses who call Disney’s Tri-Circle-D Ranch at Fort Wilderness their home.  The calliope, a musical instrument resembling an organ and consisting of whistles sounded by compressed air, was originally purchased by Walt Disney and has been a popular parade float at the Walt Disney World Resort and also on the road for many years.
