LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., March 4, 2006 – No spares today, as 5,500 Walt Disney World Cast Members donned their bright yellow VoluntEAR t-shirts in bowling centers throughout Orange and Osceola counties. They rolled a strike by pledging nearly $250,000 to Junior Achievement during the annual DisneyHand-Helping Kids Shine Bowl-A-Thon. Once again, Disney had the largest number of volunteers from a single company mobilize to support Junior Achievement.
Junior Achievement provides economic education for today’s young people by bringing the real world into the classroom through partnerships with both the business and education communities. Over the past 17 years, Walt Disney World has raised nearly $2 million for Junior Achievement.
Walt Disney World supports Junior Achievement through its community initiative, Disney Hand-Helping Kids Shine. This initiative seeks to build better futures for children by promoting four platforms: connecting with adults, constructive use of free time, character development and compassion.
