ORLANDO, Fla., April 25, 2006 - With the magic of Disney characters, performances by the children and a line-up of distinguished community leaders who’ve helped make this dream a reality, the Pine Hills branch of Boys & Girls Clubs celebrated the ground breaking ceremony of the new state-of-the-art Walt Disney World Boys & Girls Club to replace their current facility at 5211 Hernandes Drive.

Officials of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, members of the area business community and longtime supporters were on hand for the festivities. “The new Walt Disney World Boys & Girls Club in Pine Hills will enable the organization to serve an additional 75 – 100 youngsters every day and 200 – 250 more members annually,” said Gary Cain, president of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida.

Walt Disney World Co. donated $1 million to the construction of the new Boys & Girls Club.

Doug Long, Pinnacle Financial President and Pine Hills Club alum says of the project, “I know how much the Club meant to me growing up. It feels great making the Club opportunity available to that many more children here in

Pine Hills.”

In addition to Disney’s $1,000,000 lead gift, construction of the 25,000 square foot facility is funded by a grant from the Dr. Phillips foundation. Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida was among the major benefactors receiving a third quarter $500,000 grant disbursement from the foundation.

“The new Walt Disney World Boys & Girls Club will enable us to expand the variety and quality of programs with separate youth and teen centers and a focus on performing arts,” Cain explained.

The Teen facility will include a computer lab, career center, teen lounge, games room and health and life skills kitchen. The Youth area will include a game room, an arts and crafts area, a computer lab and a multi purpose room designed for exploration of the performing arts.

“We are delighted that with Disney and others’ help we will be able to serve children in the

Pine Hills area for generations to come,” Cain said.
