LONG LIVE THE 80s — Giant Rubik’s Cubes illuminate Disney’s Pop
Century Resort’s 1980s lodge buildings, as the hotel pays tribute
to pop culture of the 20th century. On the sides of the building,
familiar “ghosts” — Blinky, Inky, Pinky and Clyde — from the
famed Pac-Man video game appear to be chasing the maze-loving
Pac-Man around the hotel railings. Disney’s Pop Century Resort, the
newest value hotel at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista,
Fla., pays tribute to the popular toys, dances, catch phrases and
fads through the decades with lodge buildings anchored by
four-story icons including a laptop computer from the 1990s, a Sony
Walkman from the 1980s, a Big Wheel from the 1970s, Duncan Yo-Yos
from the 1960s and a jukebox from the 1950s.
