AMERICAN ICON (OCT. 22, 2003): Dick Clark, one of the driving
forces behind the emergence of popular music in America, took some
time today during his visit to Central Florida to tour Disney’s Pop
Century Resort with hotel general manager Dave Vermeulen. The
2,880-room hotel, slated to open Dec. 14, 2003, features
larger-than-life pop icons from throughout the 20th century.
Vermeulen toured Clark through the resort grounds on a golf cart
built to resemble a ’57 Chevy. Here, the pair rides through the
“1950s” area, featuring a bowling pin-shaped pool and a four-story
jukebox.
