Walt Disney World Resort opened the doors to its newest resort hotel with Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, a value property consisting primarily of family suites that immerse guests into the magical worlds of classic Disney and Disney·Pixar films. The “Finding Nemo” wings of the resort opened May 31; “Cars” will open June 18, and “The Lion King” will open August 10. The value rooms at “The Little Mermaid” wings will open on September 15.

As Fantasyland undergoes the largest expansion in the history of the Magic Kingdom, nearly doubling in size, Walt Disney World Resort announced today that the Be Our Guest Restaurant, themed to the Disney animated classic, Beauty and the Beast, will open in time for the 2012 holiday season.

While construction continues on the exteriors throughout Fantasyland, much of the interior decor at Be Our Guest Restaurant is already in place. Three chandeliers hang in the main dining room, the largest measuring twelve feet in length and eleven feet across with 80 lights and 100 large crystals. The two smaller chandeliers on each side measure 9.5 feet in length and eight feet across with 50 lights each. The trio of chandeliers are inspired by ones seen in the dining room in Beast’s Castle.

Splitsville, located in Downtown Disney West Side, will reinvent bowling for America with 45,000 square feet of fun and 30 lanes on two floors. Guests will come for the bowling but stay for the food. Between strikes and spares, guests can feast on menu items including hand-tossed pizza, fresh-rolled sushi and hand-cut filet sliders served right at the lane. Beyond a great hangout for friends and families, the all-new day-and-nighttime venue also will be available for birthday parties and corporate events.

The Happiest Place on Earth will get even happier June 15, 2012, with the grand opening of Cars Land, Buena Vista Street and the Carthay Circle Theatre at Disney California Adventure park. The exciting, new additions will complete the five-year expansion of Disneyland Resort, a premier, multi-day vacation destination in Southern California with two theme parks, three hotels and the Downtown Disney shopping and dining district.

The Summer to Remember Media Event at Walt Disney World Resort got “cooking” Wednesday night with a Backyard Barbeque at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Cookout Pavilion. Special guests included Phineas and Ferb, Phineas and Ferb co-creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, and Vincent Martella – the voice of Phineas. Martella and his pals took a few minutes to talk about their trip to Walt Disney World and the importance of family vacations.
