Seventeen-year-old country crooner Scotty McCreery celebrated his recent victory as the newest “American Idol” today in a parade through Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Excited fans lined the streets, cheering on America’s newest “Idol” as he joined Mickey Mouse in a convertible sports car and greeted fans at “The American Idol Experience” attraction at the Disney theme park.

The parade is a celebration of Scotty’s crowning moment on TV’s “American Idol” on May 25 in Los Angeles. The 17-year-old country crooner from Garner N.C. was named the new “American Idol” in a star-studded finale that was viewed by an estimated 29 million people.

Scotty’s visit to Walt Disney World was celebrated at the “American Idol” themed attraction — “The American Idol Experience.” It is the first attraction anywhere in the world to be based on the pop culture phenomenon and immerses guests in the authentic feel of a live television production. In the attraction, Disney guests are able to experience the glitz and glamour of the “American Idol” television show – whether they are performing on stage in front of a packed theatre or voting for their favorite performance from their audience seats.

Star Tours Debuts as ‘Star Wars Weekends’ Kicks Off at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Story Summary: Star WarsTM creator George Lucas and Disney President and CEO Bob Iger wielded lightsabers amid a legion of stormtroopers Friday, May 20, 2011 to open “Star Tours – The Adventures Continue,” a new 3-D adventure at Walt Disney World Resort.

A cast of hundreds of Star Wars characters and performers – including Anthony Daniels, who has played the golden droid C-3PO since the first film debuted in 1977 – converged on Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the launch of the attraction destined to send millions of guests on virtual journeys throughout the Star Wars galaxy.

Fittingly, the launch of Star Tours anchored the opening day of Star Wars Weekends, a popular event in the park celebrating the Star Wars legacy with special shows, presentations, motorcades and memorabilia.

And on June 3, 2011, “Star Tours – The Adventures Continue” opened at Disneyland Resort in California.

“Star Tours ¬ immerses guests into the Star Wars universe like never before,” Iger said. “The innovative technology and storytelling take guests on thrilling new adventures, bringing George Lucas’ iconic characters and locations to life in a completely new way.”

With eye-popping 3-D digital effects, a dramatic musical score and motion simulator-based technology, guests are immersed in a Star Wars adventure like never before on a theme park attraction. Walt Disney Imagineering worked with Lucasfilm, Ltd. and Industrial Light & Magic – the groundbreaking visual effects division of Lucasfilm – to bring the out-of-this-world attraction to life. Based on the Star WarsTM films, Star Tours takes Walt Disney World Resort guests to multiple Star WarsTM destinations where they will interact with characters from throughout the Saga. In a new twist, guests can enjoy the attraction multiple times without ever experiencing the same adventure. More than 50 story combinations are possible for guests to experience aboard Star Tours.

Star Tours, which had thrilled Disney guests since the 1980s, “powered down” in 2010 so Walt Disney Imagineers could begin work on the new attraction.

The victory festivities move east from Dallas to Walt Disney World where Super Bowl XLV Champ, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers celebrates as thousands of cheese-heads fans line Main Street, U.S.A. Just hours after his title win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Rodgers was riding high atop a convertible smiling and waving to green and gold clad guests at the Walt Disney World Resort. Flashing lights, a whirlwind of fluttering confetti, balloons and Mickey Mouse himself, accompanied the Super Bowl hero down the famous street at the Magic Kingdom. In the frenzied moments following his claim of the National Football League championship Sunday night in Dallas, Rodgers stood in front of a TV camera and shouted five words that have become an almost iconic reaction to milestone achievement: “I’m going to Disney World!” The commercial aired Monday morning and is the 44th of a series that began in 1987 following Super Bowl XXI featuring Phil Simms. The campaign pays tribute to personal achievements of athletes and continues to be an iconic celebration as only Disney can do.
